Somewhere Along the Way, You Started Believing It Was a You Problem

Maybe you were told you just needed to try harder. That you were smart enough to figure it out. That everyone feels this way sometimes.

But you’ve been trying harder your whole life. You’ve downloaded every productivity app. Made every to-do list. Stayed up until 2am to finish things other people seem to knock out in an hour. And still — the cycle keeps repeating.

The exhaustion isn’t a character flaw. The disorganization isn’t laziness. The emotional spirals aren’t weakness. They’re ADHD. And ADHD, with the right support, is something you can work with.

ADHD coaching at Journey Forward isn’t about trying harder. It’s about finally understanding how your brain works — and building a life that fits it.

Whether you’ve known about your ADHD for years, just got diagnosed last month, or still aren’t sure but everything on this page is sounding uncomfortably familiar you’re in the right place.

A NOTE ON COACHING VS. THERAPY

ADHD coaching with Jessica is a goal-oriented, skills-focused service — not clinical therapy. It is not a substitute for mental health treatment and does not diagnose or treat mental health conditions. If you’re also navigating trauma, anxiety, or other clinical concerns alongside your ADHD, Journey Forward’s licensed therapists offer therapy services that may be the right complement or starting point. Not sure which fits you? The free consultation is the right place to figure that out together.

ADHD Coaching in Tampa for Every Stage of the Journey

Jessica works with clients across a wide range of ages and life stages. Whether you’re a teen navigating high school, a college student barely keeping up, a young adult trying to launch, or an adult who just got the answer to a lifelong question — this coaching is built for you.

High school is hard enough. With ADHD, it can feel impossible — not because you’re not smart, but because the system isn’t built for your brain. Jessica helps teens build real strategies for staying on top of schoolwork, managing big emotions, and actually feeling good about who they are — not just who they’re supposed to be.

  • Study systems that don’t require perfect willpower
  • Emotional regulation when everything feels too loud
  • Self-advocacy at school and at home
  • Building identity beyond the ADHD label

No more structure from parents or teachers. Deadlines everywhere. A social life pulling in every direction. For college students with ADHD, this transition can be when things fall apart for the first time — or for the tenth. Jessica helps you build the scaffolding that keeps you functional and feeling like yourself.

  • Time management without burning out
  • Breaking the procrastination-shame spiral
  • Navigating academic accommodations
  • Staying regulated when the stakes feel high

You’re in the middle of figuring out work, relationships, independence, and identity — all at once. ADHD makes every one of those harder. Jessica helps young adults build the executive function foundation that school never taught and life just assumed you had.

  • Career and goal-setting that fits your brain
  • Managing money, deadlines, and adulting basics
  • Rejection sensitivity and relationship patterns
  • Understanding your ADHD as an adult for the first time

Maybe you just got diagnosed. Maybe you’ve known for years but never got real support. Maybe you’ve been high-functioning enough to get by but exhausted by the effort it takes. Jessica’s coaching for adults focuses on sustainable systems, burnout recovery, and building a life that doesn’t require you to white-knuckle through every day.

  • Late-diagnosis identity work (“So that’s why…”)
  • ADHD burnout and nervous system recovery
  • Executive function in high-stakes careers
  • Bilingual coaching available in Español

What We Work On Together

ADHD coaching at Journey Forward is practical, structured, and grounded in how the ADHD brain actually works. Sessions aren’t open-ended talking — they’re goal-oriented, skills-focused, and built around your specific life. Here’s what clients most commonly bring to coaching:

Executive Function & Time Management

Calendars, reminders, and apps haven’t stuck because they were designed for neurotypical brains. We build systems that match how your attention actually works — including strategies for task initiation, follow-through, and the time blindness that makes everything feel both urgent and far away.

Emotional Regulation & Rejection Sensitivity

Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria (RSD) — the intense emotional pain triggered by criticism, perceived failure, or rejection — is one of the most underdiagnosed aspects of ADHD. We work on understanding your emotional patterns and building regulation tools so feelings stop running the show.

ADHD & Burnout

Masking ADHD is exhausting work. Many clients arrive having pushed through for so long that their nervous system is depleted. Jessica’s background in somatic-informed care means we address the burnout underneath the ADHD — not just the productivity symptoms on top.

Late Diagnosis & Identity Work

Getting diagnosed as an adult can be equal parts relief and grief. Relief that there’s finally an explanation. Grief for how hard you had to work without one. This coaching makes space for both — understanding your history through an ADHD lens, and building a new relationship with yourself going forward.

High-Achieving & Masking Adults

You’ve succeeded by sheer force of will. Nobody would guess you were struggling. But you know. The coping mechanisms that got you here are costing more than they should. Coaching helps high-achieving adults with ADHD move from effortful survival to genuine sustainability.

School & Life Transitions

Starting high school, going to college, entering the workforce, changing careers — transitions are notoriously hard for ADHD brains. Jessica also collaborates with schools and families when needed, bridging the gap between home, education, and real life.

Jessica Gonzalez is a Certified Coach and Adolescent & Young Adult Specialist with a Master’s degree in psychology and specialized training in ADHD coaching, executive function, and educational consultation. She works with teens, college students, and adults in Tampa and virtually across Florida.

What sets Jessica apart from other ADHD coaches in Tampa is her clinical foundation. She doesn’t just know ADHD from coaching frameworks — she understands the nervous system, the emotional patterns, and the developmental nuances that shape how ADHD shows up differently at every life stage. Her approach draws from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Coaching, Mindfulness-Based Strategies, and Positive Psychology — adapted for how ADHD brains actually learn and change.

Jessica also brings a collaborative lens to her work. She partners with schools, parents, and other providers when it serves her clients — especially for teens and young adults navigating systems that weren’t designed with them in mind.

Got a question?

FAQ: ADHD Coaching in Tampa

Therapy is a clinical mental health service delivered by a licensed therapist that can address diagnoses, trauma, and emotional health. ADHD coaching is a goal-oriented, skills-focused service that helps you build systems, develop strategies, and make practical changes in your daily life. Coaching doesn’t treat mental health conditions — but it can work alongside therapy powerfully. Jessica is a clinically-trained certified coach, which means she brings a deeper understanding of the ADHD nervous system to the coaching work than a non-clinical coach would.

No. Many clients come to coaching with a formal diagnosis, but many others come because everything on this page resonates and they want support regardless of a label. Jessica works with clients who are diagnosed, undiagnosed, and in the process of figuring it out.

ADHD coaching is a private pay service and is not covered by insurance. It is also not eligible for superbill reimbursement. Session rates are listed on the Rates page. If insurance coverage is important to you, Journey Forward’s licensed therapists offer therapy services that may be billable depending on your plan.

Yes. Jessica offers coaching sessions in both English and Spanish. For Spanish-speaking clients and families, this means you don’t have to translate your experience — you can show up in the language that feels most natural.

It depends on what they need most. If your teen is navigating significant anxiety, trauma, or emotional health concerns alongside their ADHD, therapy with one of Journey Forward’s licensed therapists may be the better starting point. If the primary need is practical — building school strategies, managing time, developing self-advocacy skills — coaching with Jessica is often a strong fit. The free consultation is the best way to figure out which makes sense for your teen specifically.

Most clients start to see meaningful changes within four to six sessions. A typical coaching engagement runs three to six months of weekly sessions, though this varies based on your goals and how quickly you want to move. There’s no minimum commitment — you and Jessica will check in on progress regularly and adjust the plan as needed.

Ready to Stop Fighting Your Brain?

You’ve spent long enough making yourself fit into systems that weren’t built for you. ADHD coaching at Journey Forward is about building something better — not perfect, not effortless, but genuinely sustainable.
